HFCO is highly focused on developing the benefits of Hull’s Community Centres and champions voluntary and community action at neighbourhood level as a means of local people taking control of issues in their area and fostering community spirit. HFCO provides specialist information, advice, and support to volunteers running and managing community centres.
HFCO is a local federation and member of Community Matters the National Federation for Community Organisations.

Provides a forum for members to consult together on common problems, issues and policies
Supporting and representing smaller community led organisations and community activists
Speaking as a collective voice and lobbying on matters of common interest and concern
Providing relevant training opportunities for example; Running and Managing your Community Building, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, Fire Marshall Training, Community Development
Providing practical information, support and advice to both new and existing community groups
Promoting and assisting in the development of new community organisations
Encouraging good working relationships between members and other voluntary and statutory organisations
Working in partnership with Hull City Council in promoting and establishing community centres
